opportunity

Subesquent to the official designation of a downtown Arts and Entertainment district in 1999, the city of Pawtucket, RI has harnessed the arts as a powerful component of urban redevelopment. The Pawtucket Arts Festival initiated an open studios trolley tour in 2003, but participation from artists and the public was incongruent during the first few years. Schwadesign was eager to help reinvigorate the Open Studios event and increase participation from the public and artists alike.

Schwadesign solution

We developed an identity for POS, helping shape a rubric under which three separate events have come together: the September Open Studios, a December holiday sale, and a spring ‘07 Arts & Design showcase for trade professionals and art buyers. The POS identity was applied across media, initiating a recognizable brand for Pawtucket’s arts community. Our own Minister of Connection created a playful t-shirt reading “Pawtucket turns me on” as part of a high-energy push to generate buzz.

T-shirts are on sale at The Curatorium, and are available at the studio for $25. Just give us a ring!
