opportunity
When RISD instructor and studio-space-neighbor Peter Roux approached Schwadesign to assist with a rebrand and website redesign, we felt a fraternal significance because, says Josh, “I really like his art!”
Schwadesign solution
Peter likes to think about his landscapes. Not only the pieces that comprise what we look upon, but also the ‘something’ beyond the cropped edges that we can’t see. Peter states, “I’m primarily interested in distance and edge. I’ve always been fascinated by…how an image is framed, compressed, composed, and what is included versus deleted in the construction of a scene.” With this in mind, Josh basked in a rare opportunity to work 1:1 with Peter creating a rebranded collection of print collateral inspired by this very notion. Chopping Peter’s own nomenclature across a horizontal axis and placing it along contrasting edges of each artifact, the mind’s eye must fill in the rest. It’s as if Roux himself is creating, as he states, “attention…drawn to the space between the viewer and subject.” The result is – dare we say – an ‘edgy’ representation of an artist’s own vision, and an opportunity to engage in what Josh gushes is “one of my favorite projects in studio history.”
